It has been shown that distributed turbo coding (DTC) performs close to the theoretic outage probability bound of a relay channel. It is important to evaluate the error performance of the DTC scheme in multi-hop relaying wireless systems when specific codes are employed in specific radio conditions. In this paper, the upper bound on the error performance of DTC relay systems over quasi-static Rayleigh fading channels is evaluated. Union bound method is adopted to compute the upper bound on bit error probability (BEP) of relay systems with DTC scheme by use of the distance spectrum of turbo code, the concept of uniform interleaver, and the limit-before-averaging technique. The analysis and the simulation show that the derived bound is tight in the medium to high SNR region.
