Abstract: In this article, the fast multipole method (FMM) is applied to analyze the field strength of an ultra-wideband (UWB) signal. Small coverage of UWB communication systems and high efficiency of the algorithm make it possible to calculate the amplitude of electric field accurately. A homogeneous dielectric body and a multilayered dielectric object are studied. The computational results obtained by applying the FMM agree well with those obtained by applying the method of moments (MoM).
